We hope the Questions and Answers in this FAQ section will help you navigate this fun site to make your life as a parent easier, help you connect and give all of us “Moms” the support we need! As a Mom and the founder I would love any and all of your feedback. A brief summary of what GotKidsNetwork is about can be found here.

How do I join?
Go to the home page on the top right under log in. You can click on the orange colored “join for free box”, or the “sign up for free box now” that has the image of the little girl, then follow the instructions. After you successfully register, remember to go back to your regular email account and accept the validation email from GotKidsNetwork.

I keep trying to sign up, but when I try and log in it states I am not a member, why?
Please look in your email account for a validation email (it will appear within 5 minutes), and click on the link. If you do not see it, please look in your bulk mail, spam mail or junk mail folder. The bulk Email or Junk Email folder typically can be found on the left hand side of the screen. Please click on it, and look at the mail in that folder. When you see the email from GotKidsNetwork, please mark it (click on the box and go to the top of the tool bar and select “not spam”), and then click on the validation email. You must validate within three days or you will need to re-register (security measures).

I have signed up but I can’t log in why? (It’s blocking me from the site or it’s saying I have an invalid email account.
Are you using your full email address, and make sure your cap lock isn’t on. Most importantly, did you click on the validation email that was sent to you? If not, go to your regular email account and look for an email sent to you from GotKidsNetwork. If you do not see it, please look in your bulk mail, spam mail or junk mail folder. What does Connect Mean?
Connect means meeting other Moms online either by location or by same interests. You can search for other Moms by location, interest, or groups.

Why would I want to invite friends?
You will want to build your own friends that you connect with (a network). A “network” is a group of friends that you choose (old friends.. or new ones that you meet online) that you can easily keep in touch with. You can send email messages via the site. There is also a feature where you can introduce the friends in your network to each other. It is a great way to stay connected with the Moms you really like.

How do I invite friends into my network who are NOT part of the site already?
Click “invite a friend” located on your home page on the top left side under the photo box of yourself. Or you can click on the blue “Invite Friends” tab under the Start Your Network in the My Friends Box located on the left side of your Home Page. Either of these tabs will work. Once you click on the tab, type in their individual email addresses or even easier click on IMPORT CONTACTS and invite all your friends from your address book (either in yahoo, aol, hotmail, or msn.. and their email addresses will all appear and hit send). You can form a group of Mom’s from high school, dance, softball wherever.

How do I invite friends into my network who are ALREADY part of this site?
Click on their image and ask them to join your network. Or go to your home page, go the bottom left column and find the box that states” DID THEY JOIN ALREADY, FIND AN EXISTING MEMBER.’, type in their name OR email address and find them, remember to change the search to anywhere if they live far away from you!

Why do I want to have a network again?
It’s to invite moms and relatives you trust and like. High school friends, grandparents, aunts and uncles.. they will have access to your network and you can post photos of your children and yourself, your close friends will even have access to your calendar.

How do I find Mom’s in my area?
Go to your Home Page on GotKidsNetwork, find the “Find an Existing Member” Box located on the bottom left hand side, please type in your zip code and then select the number of miles, (10 20 50 100 “any”) and hit enter. Or when your first join, go to the New User Box on the home page on located on the left column OR the “new to the site Click here to get started” in red type located in the center of the home page. Click on it and it will take you to some search boxes, and then search away!

How do I find Mom’s who have already joined?
Go to your GotKids Home Page, find the “Find an Existing Member” Box located on the bottom left hand side, please type in their email address or name select the entry “any” for number of miles, and hit enter.

How do I find Mom’s with the same interests as mine?
1. If you are new to the site, go to your home page and look at the center of the page where is says find parents by interest and click on the descriptive words that interest you. It will pull up all the members who have the same interest. Just click on their name, and then you can send them a message or invite them into your network, your choice.
OR
2. Go to the Group section (please look at the top bar, the fifth entry is between my photos and my calendar). Click on it. Then you will have three options:
a. Do a keyword search located on the left hand side of the page (“outdoor”, “book”, whatever your interest is ECT.)and remember to select distance or select “anywhere”.
b. Look under the group categories and see if any groups interest you and then join them.
c. If you have a specific interest and a group doesn’t already exist form your own. Here is a helpful hint, after you form your group, post a discussion topic about your group every few days and attract new members.
OR3. Go to your Profile - Your Profile can be gotten to by going to your home page, look next your picture box on the left hand side of the page and hit “My profile”. Type in words that interest you, cooking fitness, and then after you save those changes, click on them other Moms with those same interests will appear.

What is a familog or a (family blog)?
A familog or family blog is a blog about you and your life with your family. A blog is simply typing whatever you want to say that day.

Does everyone on the site see my familog?
You can set who you want to see your blog or information in your profile. You can let everyone on the site see it, or you can only let invited members see it, or just yourself. You have the power to control who you want to view it. Just go to your profile. Your Profile can be gotten to by going to your home page, look next your picture box on the left hand side of the page and hit “My profile”.

What is Me and My Family about?
Write a short paragraph about you and your family, really what you would say if you met a new friend and wanted to describe yourself.

Does everyone on the site see my information?
You can set who you want to your information in your profile. You can let everyone on the site see it, or you can only let invited members see it, or just yourself. You have the power to control who you want to view it. Just go to your profile. Your Profile can be gotten to by going to your home page, look next your picture box on the left hand side of the page and hit “My profile”.

Can I form a group such as a local playgroup by myself?
Yes you can, go to the Group Page and form your own group. You can select whether it is public, semi-private or private. Here is a helpful hint, after you form your group, post a discussion topic about your group every few days and attract new members. Also, invite your personal friends to it to.

How do I send a message to all the Moms in my Group?
Go to “Blast Message” on the Group page, compose a message and send it.

What can members do on the group page?
Post photos, blog, have discussions, send blast messages to everyone in the group, and have a group roster.

How do discuss with the Mom’s all over the site?
You can send messages to all moms by going to the discussion board located on your home page in the middle of the page; it says MEMBER DISCUSSIONS and posting a message. It will be seen by all members.

I’d rather not get a message in my email account whenever a Mom posts a message on this site, how do I stop getting these announcements?
Go to your account profile. You can access your Profile two ways:
1. Go to your home page, look next your picture box on the left hand side of the page and click “My profile” that will put you on the basic page, and on the bottom of this page click on the checked box which says send me email notifications. When it is not checked, you will not receive any email notifications. Remember once you opt out you will not receive any email messages (invites, event notifications from anyone). You will have to log into your account at Gotkidsnetwork and check any email messages from your GotkidsNetwork account.
OR
2.Look at the top bar on the top, all the way to the left you will see Account, click on it, that will put you on the basic page, and on the bottom of this page click on the checked box which says send me email notifications. When it is not checked, you will not receive any email notifications. Remember once you opt out you will not receive any email messages ( invites, event notifications from anyone). You will have to log into your account at Gotkidsnetwork and check any email messages from your GotkidsNetwork account.
Remember you won’t get any more emails, but remember to check the site periodically and check your messages because you will no longer be alerted when someone posts something in your group or to yourself.

Do I have to have a GotKidsNetwork email account to use all the features of GotKidsNetwork?
No, you can keep the email you regularly use. You can answer your emails from other Moms either on the Message section in GotKidsNetwork, or you can use your own email.

Is putting photos of my family the GotKidsNetwork secure?
Yes, you can share all those special moments, day at the park, birthday, going to the zoo, food on the face all in one area instead of having to email each photo out. It stays on the site, and your friends and family can look at the photos 24/7 and watch how your children and family grow.

Where do I put the photos?
You can put photos on your image, your home page, and any groups that you join.

Why would I want to use my calendar?
To schedule an event.. i.e. a play date, a day at the circus. Once you schedule your event, etc., it automatically appears on your calendar and your home page so you won’t forget. Your friends in your network can see what fun events you will be going to if you chose to make it public.

How do I schedule an event?
Go to the Calendar section located on the sixth tab at the top named “My Calendar” and Click it. You will be in the Calendar Section, and then click on “Create local event” button located on the left side of the screen.

Can I send out invites from this site to an event?
Yes! Go to the Calendar section by clicking the sixth tab at the top of the home page named “My Calendar”; then click “create E-invite”, located on the left side of the screen. The instructions will walk your through the process to send your e-vite out.... Fun fact: It will automatically appear two places on your home page, and in your calendar section.

I sent out an Evite out from the GotKidsNetwork Site but I don’t see the RSVP’s.
Go to your home page, your event will be in the center of the page. Click on it, and then click on the grey button “Change Your Reply”, all your guest responses will be found. But give them enough time to respond!

Can I search for events?
Yes. Go to the Calendar section, look on the left side and do a key word search, and fill out the rest of the information required

Can I view the Calendar in a list format?
Yes. Just hit “list” for that option.

Can I share and submit my favorite recipes?
Yes, and you can even keep a favorite list of your recipes.

What is Classifieds used for?
Classifieds can be used to find services (babysitters, nanny’s ect), and products (baby gear, clothes, toys). You can also post your services, your products to sell, swap or offer.

Does it cost anything to use the Classifieds?
No, it’s absolutely free!

How do I post something on the Classified section?
Click on Create a Listing found in on the left hand side of the page in the Classified Section. Follow the directions.

How do I edit my profile and options?
Your Profile can be reached two ways:
1. Go to your home page, look next your picture box on the left hand side of the page and hit “My profile”. Make any changes that you wish.2. Look at the top bar on the top, all the way to the left you will see Account, click on it and feel free to edit your account any way you wish.
